MY FIRST HALF MARATHON!!

So, I've always wanted to accomplish a half marathon. Actually, I've always wanted to run a whole marathon, but baby steps, you know?? Our church has been raising money for a 9 year old boy who passed away 2 years ago from cancer. The money would be used to build a baseball field in his name and a play area that all the school kids in Medina could use. I wanted to thank all the people who donated to my run. Your generosity, combined with Adam's legacy is what kept me running the whole time. I can't describe the feeling of crossing the finish line and knowing what I accomplished. All I can say is, we're forming a running club so that we run the full marathon next year. I can't wait to be a part of it!

So, I do not like to brag about anything, but this car was such a deal, I had to share. First off, it's my color! Secondly, it's a 2007 and they needed to move it by the end of the month. I got 6 grand off the sticker and ended up paying nothing down and the payments are 225 a month, not bad huh?
It's a sports car..6 speed...The fastest thing I've ever driven. This is replacing my hoopdie (is that how you spell it?)...a 1993 Toyota Corolla with 170,000 miles on it. I figured I might want a little something safer when Madelyn arrives, you know???

Hi there!

Last season, I got many an email on how I looked like Chris Richardson. My mom would tell me every week that he reminded her of her loving son. I argued the point that I thought they needed glasses because he is a good looking chap. The comparisons continued all season so I gradually accepted the flattering comparisons. So, Chris comes in the studio today so I figured that now was my chance to do a side by side comparison once and for all...

Yeah, not even close. He is short, I am tall. He has better clothes, more hair....

I did notice a few similarities, though. Both of us have big heads and he has similar arm hair to me

Plus, he was a top 5 finalist on idol and I took top 5 in the regional finals in roller dance back in 1984

Maybe we are alike...LOL

Valentine's Weekend In Amish Country

Ahh yes, When you wanna get away from it all don't go to Florida, a cruise in the caribbean...No, you go to Holmes County and eat cheese. Steph and I went down there this past weekend to unwind. She has not been feeling too great, the pregnancy is not as comfortable as most, but she is a trooper and we wanted to have fun. We stayed at The Yeowza Resort...We had a suite with a fireplace. We were serenaded by a violinist during dinner...I know it sounds exclusive, but let me tell you..IT'S AMISH COUNTRY!!!!....I went down there with a zipper on my coat and felt like Rockafeller. Seriously, we had a great time and the cheese is good

A NEW CONTRACT!!

Yesterday was a fantastic day, as I got signed to a new 5 year deal. I have to extend big-thanks to our general manager Chris Maduri (pictured on the left) and Skippy the Program Director (pictured on the right). I love it here at Q104 and am very glad the bosses saw enough in me to want to keep me around. Radio is a tough business to break into, but more importantly to stay in. I have been at Q104 going on my 12th year. They do things differently. It is family with all of us. Everyone supports one another, even though we all come from different walks of life. Thanks to all of you as well. Your support of my songs and myself is incredibly humbling. I am very blessed to work here!!!

Unfortunately, the end of 2007 saw the end of my band Inner City Outlet. Jeez, I feel like this is Behind The music...I hear the piano playing right now. The guys simply wanted more time with their families and there are no hard feelings

2008 brings a new band for me called INTRIGUE. This is an exciting venture and musically, it is completely differen't from any other band I've been in before

Intrigue is 5 members, headed by our female lead singer Debbie. We do hot new music from Pink, KT Tunstall, Carrie Underwood and more, and mix it with the hits from the 80's and
90's..Stevie Nicks, Scandal, Pat Bentar, The Go-Go's and more.

Our first gig is TONIGHT at The MAD CACTUS in STRONGSVILLE. We are also playing THE PARMA TAVERN on January 15th. More gigs to come. I hope you can make it out, I'd love to meet you. Look for a website soon.

So, today we get the keys to our new house. Steph and I are very excited. It's always weird leaving a place you feel comfortable in and moving into something that doesn't feel like home yet. We needed a bigger kitchen since our favorite thing to do is cook together. Plus, with the baby coming, we figured now was a good time. I am extremely thankful for such a great job and the ability to have a home. As Christmas comes closer, I am reminded how blessed I am and I never take it for granted.

So, the weirdest thing happened to Steph and I....We have been sad that we had to put our dog Josie to sleep last month, and little Gertrude has been so lonely without her...We're driving home from grocery shopping and a cute little dog without tags jumps in front of the car....We stop and pick her up and go all around the neighborhood looking for her owner..Nothing...We go to the police station who in turn calls the animal shelter and they take the dog. Since Steph got rather close to the dog in the half an hour we had her, we asked if no one claims her if we could adopt her. The shelter says yes. Well, no one claimed her and now she's ours. It seemed like it was meant to be. She is a fun loving puggle. Her name is Olive. I guess some things just happen for a reason!!

A sad day for us!

Hey guys!

A said day for us. Those of you that know me, know we have a beautiful pug named Miss Gertrude and a rottweiller named Josie. Josie has been around for 9 years and was a wonderful dog. She has suffered from seizures the past 8 and it's been really rough on us. Lots of extra care is needed for a dog like this. Many nights spent awake while we help her through her seizures, stroking her, telling her it's o.k....Josie passed away today. She was fine all week, but then I came home on friday, and I found her lying on her side and unable to get up.....We took her to the vet, put IV's in her, gave her steroids in her legs, but she still couldn't get up. Apparently, The seizures cut off blood circulation to her brain and made her unable to stand. Making the tough decision was one of the harder things we've ever had to do...She was alert in her mind, but not her body. They say they are just pets, but anyone who has had a dog or cat, or any other animal for an extended period of time knows otherwise. I'm really sad right now, so is Steph. We did all we could, but know it's probably better for Josie in the long run. I did not post more pictures of Josie and I regret that. I know no one will feel the same way we do, but I wanted to thank Westpark Animal Hospital for helping us out so much and being so comforting..Josie is in a better place and no more pain..Sorry for the down blog, but I feel better typing it

Hey guys,

I wanted to let you all know, that I am running in a marathon for a cause that has really touched me. His name is Adam Dunaye and he recently passed away from cancer. He was only 9. Adam never complained, and always smiled..right till the end. My church is trying to build a baseball field in his name, since playing baseball was his favorite thing to do. The field will be used by all the children in the Medina area, as well as a few schools in the area that do not have the funds for a sports program. His mother talked at one of the services a few weeks back and it really inspired me to want to help out. A few of us are running a 26 mile relay race because we feel it's one of the ways we can keep Adam's legacy alive.

We're Selling Our House!

So, we just listed our house with Tim Ali Realty (www.timali.com). It was a difficult decision to sell, but in the end we wanted something a little larger to meet our needs. We currently have a 3 bedroom split level, 1600 square feet of living space, and everything has been done to it. We own a corner lot on a nice quiet street if you're interested. So, we had Nick and Howie from the Backstreet Boys in a few days ago. Nice dudes. They were here once before and were just as nice back then. I'm a big fan of their music. In fact, Aerosmith may be my favorite all-time band, but my favorite concert of all time was 2001's Black and Blue Tour in Pittsburgh. They put on such a spectacle.

Hey Glenn,

We’re D.C. Prive, a band of six police officers from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio who are playing a benefit show at Falls River Square in Cuyahoga Falls in an effort to raise money for our local military heroes who were wounded in Iraq and for the families of the soldiers killed over there.

It started off as a tribute to our friend and coworker, Dan Crabtree, a Special Forces soldier and police officer who was killed in Iraq on June 8, 2006, but it evolved into a benefit where we could spread the wealth a little more across the community.

The show is August 3, 2007 at promptly 5:00pm at Falls River Square (Front and Broad, just off Route 8 in Cuyahoga Falls).

We’re trying to get as many people there as possible, as all proceeds go toward local wounded Iraq vets, their families, and the families of soldiers who were killed in Iraq.

My sister got married 7 7 07!

Hey everyone!

My sister got married 7 7 07 in Vegas. My wife, Rebecca, Roger, and some other close friends went out there on July 4th to hang out on Freemont Street. We then went to the Best Friends Animal Sanctury in Knab, Utah to volunteer for a couple of days taking care of the animals. What an amazing experience. it is the largest Animal Sanctuary in the world. They have over 700 dogs, 800 cats, rabbits, horses, birds...They do incredible work there. Simon Cowell, Charlize Theron, and more have come out to volunteer and you can too. Here is their website if you are interested.

I love my sister dearly, but this was one of the highlights of the trip. They really put you to work, but the scenery in the mountains was beautiful and you are doing work for a great cause.

Here is me and a 21 pound cat, my sister and Steph taking puppy training lessons, some of the beautiful scenery in the mountains, and me on a doggy sleepover at The Bob Bon Inn with Churchill, the pit bull. What a great dog!

It was then back to Vegas for the wedding and some relaxation. Here I am walking my sister down the aisle at The Flamingo Hilton, and my new brother-in-law Mike with Janine!

It was then off to The Wine Cellar in The Rio Hotel. They have a 20 million dollar collection. They have a Rothechild from 1924 worth 200 grand and a bottle from 1837 that Thomas Jefferson owned. Steph and I enjoyed some good wine here. I recommend it!

Then it was on to The Sterling Brunch at Balley's on Sunday. 50 dollar unlimited bottles of champagne, all you can eat lobster, filet, crab, caviar, sushi, lamb. It was incredible. We spent almost 4 hours there. I highly recommend it. It costs 65 bucks a person, but is highly worth it. Here is the group, Steph and I, Rebecca and Roger..We had a great time!

I know people get irritated when creative pet owners dress up their animals. Gertrude is sporting a nice pug-hat and scarf that seems to say 'Doesn't Glenn have anything better to do than dress me up"? We took Gert out this past weekend and needed an outfit..What's a guy to do? She liked this outfit so much, she kept it on about 2 minutes..a record!!

So, the Cleveland Wine Festival is this weekend and it reminds me of our favorite place to do tastings; The Olde Wine Cellar in Olmsted Falls. Most Friday nights you can find Steph and I and our friends Mike and Kathy up there. The tasting expert is John and he knows everything about wine. Go and support the Wine Festival, we are lucky to have it here in Cleveland. When you're through with that, go visit The Olde WIne Cellar...Just not in the same night!!

Back from Mexico!

Hello everyone!
So, I'm back from Mexico. It is a terrific country to visit and the food is incredible. Steph and I went for our one year anniversary and let me tell you, it's true what they say about the water. On a much lighter note, The Mexican people don't drink Corona and look at you funny when you order it. I did, however, find my first Corona on tap..Pretty cool sight if you've never seen it!

Here's a picture of our hotel, The Grand Palladium. It's about 2 hours south of Cancun. Everything is included; Meals, gratuities, drinks, tequila....An awesome place to stay with tons to do!

We went to an awesome mexican restaurant in Playa Del Carmen called Ahua (pronounced like the popular Al Pacino phrase in "Scent of a Woman". They dress you up, give you free tequila, and flirt with the ladies at your table. Here's a picture of Steph

Our weekend at Mon Ami

Hello everyone!

So Steph and I celebrated an early anniversary at Mon Ami Winery on Saturday. That's the place we got married last May. We drove up there, and after we ordered our food, the power went out. I guess it was out all over the island as well as Put-In-Bay. This is the second time in 2 weeks where the power has gone completely out at a place we were at. They ended up closing the restaurant and ushering everone out. None the less, we enjoyed our hour up there. Our anniversary is May 20th...Steph is amazing..I love her more and more everyday..Happy early-anniversary :)

Grillin' for the cause

Big thanks to Bd's Mongolian BBQ for hosting such a cool event and helping us raise a ton of money for the APL. The whole show got to be grillers for a day. It was hot, and those talented people who cook your food dont get paid nearly enough for what they do. Thanks for everything. Your food is the best and you helped us help the animals!!

Weekend in Vegas!!

So Steph and I had a beautiful couple of days in Las Vegas. Weather was warm and it was nice and sunny. We were there for our friend's wedding..James and Danielle. They got married in front of The Bellagio fountains. Nice and Romantic. Here's Steph and I at Mandalay Bay. We were among bamboo and it felt very right to snap a photo. A nice old man took our shot. He asked us if we wanted a Werthers hard candy..We politely said "No thanks"

So this was the best deal in Vegas, The Sterling Brunch at Bally's. 65 bucks a head, but you get unlimited 40 dollar bottles of champagne, All you can eat Lobster, Crab legs, Shrimp, Caviar, Sushi, Filet Mignon, Rack of Lamb, Oysters, Made to order crepes, cherry's jubilee. We were there about 3 hours. This was at the beginning of the brunch. Pictures towards the end are not available at this time..Or any time for that matter

Here I am outside The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace. It is a nice shopping area on the strip but it makes Beachwood Place look like a flea market. I saw baseball great Steve Garvey in there. I didn't say hi. We shopped around the stores. Prada, Dolce and Gabbana, Versace....Steph felt like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman the way they looked at her. I casually dropped a five on the floor to show them we had class..It didn't work

Here's Steph and I near The Mirage on the strip. This is a free attraction in Vegas. Can I also say, that's it's one of the few things we didn't pay for out there. Right now we're smiling but in our minds we're saying "Wow, 7 bucks for a domestic beer, they must be on sale"

Here I am at The Palms. Steph's girlfriend was getting married in Vegas, and they stayed on the 34th floor, 2 rooms over from Hugh Hefner's villa. If you're interested in staying there, it'll run you 34,000 A NIGHT! Needless to say, this was as far as I made it. I put on shades to look cool, but it didn't help and I found myself walking into things.

In Defense of Sanjaya!!

So, lots of you know that I am a Sanjaya fan. I realize I may be in the minority, but I wanted to share some of my thoughts on the kid

Sanjaya was thrown in front of 30 million people and his every move has been critiqued, scrutinized, made fun of, laughed at, and torn apart. I realize if you make it to the show you open yourself up to that, but needless poking fun of is wrong.

I will joke about his hair like the next person, but when someone is needlessly berated due to his culture or his quietness, I thing that's wrong. Call me a wimp, but I root for the underdog. He's not claiming to be the best, but he's trying and people are voting for him. Lots of people complain about the voting process on Idol, but you know what? It's not the call centers in India voting for him, it's his fans here. People want him on that stage and that's what the show is about. US! Who we want to see, whose cd's we wanna buy. Girls like his sensitivity. I can relate to that. People always made fun of me because I was sensitive or liked chick flicks, but I was raised by an incredible single mom and now I know how to treat my wife and understand her instead of just popping open a beer, lying on the couch, and keeping my feelings to myself like most dudes. Sanjaya has faced all the garbage thrown at him with dignity, grace, and a smile, and if you had the whole world making fun at you, I challenge any one of you to act the same.

Sanjaya is good for Idol. He is a positive role model for lots of young kids and those of us who have to deal with the clicks, the bullies, and the not-so-nice poeple. He's not claiming to be someone he's not, and he's trying to have fun. I can think of nothing better than that in a person...Thank you all for reading and have a beautiful day!!

My sister's cats

Hey everybody!

Both I and my sister want to thank you for all the well wishes for her cats..All 5 of them came down with kidney failure as a result of eating the tainted food that is out there. It has been a big struggle. Currently, Snoop Dog and Sherman are still in the hospital. The other 3 have come back home, but are not in the clear yet. We all treat our pets like they're our children, and between back and forth to the vet and hooking up IV's, we realize the responsibility we have. Her vet bills are enormous (approaching 10 grand)..and she's still working with Menu Foods to see what can be done , but I just wanted to say thanks for all the e-mails. They have definately cheered her up during this time. You guys rock, thank you!!

Hey!

So, I got the honor of going and checking out J.T at the Q last weekend with Steph. Great show..fantastic. We got invited to his soundcheck party and got to stand up by the stage and watch him play a few tunes on the piano. I know I'm a dude, but the guy is pretty amazing. Afterwards, he came on down and said hello and we got to take some pictures with him. Neither myself or Tim Richards ran up to him..Well, becauser that would've been weird and his 2 big bodyguards would've crushed us..It's probably the reason I'm on the far left and Tim is on the far right. Steph ran and so did Jen Toohey, but unfortunately Steph came out a little blurry...Maybe next time we run into him Steph will become more clear...You know, when we all go out together and hang with him and Jessica, and Cameron, and Alyssa, and Scarlett and whoever else..Oh well, he was a real nice guy!

Thank you for all the comments, both good and bad, about the song I did about Barbaro yesterday. This story has taken on a life of its own, and whatever side of the fence you're on, I appreciate the passion from everyone. I have received comments raging from "I loved it" to "I'm calling P.E.T.A" and "You should be removed from the air permanently". I am a huge animal lover, as you can tell from this blog, and I never meant to offend anyone. We all deal with death differently. Some cry, some keep their feelings bottled-up, some try and lighten the mood. I enjoy laughing and making people laugh and even though I may not do that sometimes, I want you to know my intentions are good. Thanks for listening to our show :)

Hope you are all well. I had a pretty fun weekend. My wife's birthday is on February 3rd and her sister Sam and mine is in January. We all got together at Steph's moms house and had a big old mexican fiesta birthday celebration for everyone. We are all huge mexican fans. The Great Purge of 2007! NO WINE!!!!

So, the entire show is giving up something for 30 days. I chose wine. This is extremely difficult for me, but I figured giving up something I knew wouldn't be difficult...Well, what would be the point? My goal is to become more disciplined in 2007. We all make resolutions to be better with something, but the feeling I get when I am in control of all areas of my life is the greatest feeling ever. Sometimes all our lives spin out of control.. We slack at the gym, we slack with the housework, with our loved ones, going to church, with our eating habits. No one can be completely perfect in all these areas, but I feel calling attention to it is a good way to live, at least for me. Hello everyone!

Hope everyone had a great New Year. My wife and I had the privledge to go down to Nashville, Tennessee and take in the sights. We had an incredible time. Got down there Saturday and went to the Grand Ole Opry. We saw Hal Ketchum and a bunch of classsic and up-and-coming country stars. Sunday we spent at Opry Mills, their huge shopping complex, and then spent New Years Eve on the General Jackson Showboat. Monday we spent at the Opryland Hotel, the most beautiful hotel in the world and then went bar-hopping downtown. Steph ran into Bucky from American Idol. We closed down the bar with him and then spent tuesday walking around the Opryland Hotel. I highly recommend going here. It's a great music town, people are friendly, and it's relatively cheap. Enjoy the pictures. Thanks to Joe and Skippy for giving Steph and I the day off. We never take our job for granted and always remember how lucky we are to work for such a cool station. Thank you!!

Hello,

So, those of you that know me, know I love wine. What happens when you combine the liquid gold in a glass with the spirit of the season? You get mulled wine!! Here is one of my favorite recipes. Mulled wine is warming a fruity or spicy wine with mulling spices (allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg, etc) To give it a hot apple cider like taste. Try this recipe and tell me how you like it, it is simply fantastic

1 bottle Baco Noir wine (you can substitute any fruit-forward wine)

1/2 cup port (to give it consistency and depth..and alcohol!!)

1/2 cup orange vodka. (for a fruity zip and finish)

1 cup sugar

1/4 tspn ground cloves

1 tspn nutmeg

pinch of allspice

1/2 tspn vanilla

2 cinnamon sticks

Warm the wine in a saucepan on the stove, taking care not to boil. Add spices and stir gently..Serve warm with a cinnamon stick

It's very easy..You probably have everything in the house already. Now go and impress your family at Christmas

Hello to everyone!

First off, welcome to everyone who has joined the show worldwide now that we are streaming. This is a really cool thing for us and we are excited you are here. Second, I posted this picture for a couple of reasons...

1. The girl on the left is my sister. She recently had her tonsils out and is miserable. It happened 2 weeks ago and she still can't really eat or speak. Hopefully she will feel better soon and get back to her normal self! Feel better Janine

2. The girl in the middle? Her name is Rebecca. She is a morning "DJ" I get to work with everyday. She is incredibly sweet and has an honesty to her that can't be duplicated. It's a pleasure to be co-workers and most importantly..friends. Speaking of friends and good times, Please come out and support Scrooges Night out, happening this friday night at the Galleria. All money goes to a good cause, and you can eat, drink, and have a nights worth of fun. Tickets are available at the door and Wilde and Fee will be hosting the event

3. The lady on the right is Stephanie. She is my wife and I adore her. We'll be celebrating our 7 month anniverary on the 20th of December. Why count months? I am reminded everyday what an amazing person she is, and never take what I have for granted, that's why. Remember, always have fun, always talk, do things together AND separately, and turn off the TV. Together time doesn't mean just sitting next to someone.

Enjoying Fall!!

Hey there!

Hope everyone is Jim Dandy. Steph and I are huge wine lovers. Every chance we get to drink it, learn about it, see how it's made, visit new wineries, we are all about it. We went to one of our favorite places, The New York Finger Lakes. It's about 4.5 hours from here but as soon as you get there, you feel like you're in another world. Rolling Hills, more fall foliage than New England, and some of the most beautiful bodies of water you will ever see. If you're looking for a cheap getaway, go here. Seriously, we got a bed and breakfast for 100 bucks and the wine tastings are either free or they charge a buck. Here's Steph at the B and B we stayed at on Seneca Lake called "The Lakehouse"

So this was the exact place that Steph and I got engaged last year. Last year, it was pouring rain and I got down on one knee and proposed and it was awesome. This year, we opened up a bottle of our favorite wine and I brought out some cheese and we toasted to each other and just held hands for a while. Corny, cheesy..I know. but the greatest feeling ever

So I'm very blessed to get to do what I do. My job is the coolest thing to me. Getting to write parody songs and wake up with the entire city is an incredible feeling. Meeting Weird Al Yankovic has been a dream of mine. Not because he is so cool or because he's a famous person, but because growing up, this is who I wanted to be. How many people have met that person in their life? Getting to perform the song I wrote for him with him right next to me was indescribable. Hey all!

So..I recently got back from a weekend in Boston to see the Red Sox take on the Yankees..I'm not a huge baseball fan, but my wife is and let me tell you it was amazing to be at Fenway. You are greeted by Old men playing "Take me out to the Ballgame" on banjos..The smell of sausages and hot dogs fill the air..It is a differen't time and everyone is passionate about the game. The Red Sox lost 5 games in a row, but the experience was unforgettable..Pictured below is my sister and her boyfriend with me and Steph..The original Cheers bar the tv show was made after, some pics of Fenway, and some pics of Old Ironsides (the oldest battleship in the U.S.A and Boston Harbor)..Check this city out, you won't be disappointed! Although Clevelanders are much happier people..

Tuesday..Off to band practice..Brian and I are practicing for our big debut at Bag the Moon..Kelly's Island. We got a cottage for the weekend. Bringing up my Sea-Doo..fun times, great band, great bar..Come on out..August 11-12th..E-mail me for directions. I'd love to meet you!!

Wednesday-Work....Band practice with my other band I.C.O..we have a gig this saturday at the Sly Fox in North Olmsted from 10-2...Awesome music, awesome bar...Come out. E-mail me, and I'll get you in without having to pay the $5 cover...Jeez, I'm trying to sound cool :)

Thursday-Work...home to cook a great meal for Steph. When I have a free night, it's off to my Wolfgang Puck cookbook and an attempt to cook like I'm a real chef. I attempt something, open up a few bottles of wine..All is well with the world

Friday-Work, off to be one of the hosts for Twilight at the Zoo...Come on out..$50 bucks a person...16 bands..free drinks..free food..all while looking at animals..i can't think of a better time...E-mail me for more info

Yes, I know, the headline makes you probe deeper, doesn't it?? LOL..Here is a small post as to what's going on in my life right now.

Just got my buddy Brian (weekender 2-7..fabulous ex-co-host on Wilde and Fee) to join in my band Bonedaddy. I have a few bands, and I've been wanting to play with Brian for a while now. Our first gig is August 11th-12th at Kelly's Island at Bag the Moon. If you're looking for a fun way to spend a summer evening, both the bar and the music won't disdappoint. E-mail me for directions, I'd love to buy you a strawberry shot (they actually fill a fresh strawberry with tequila rose..yum)

My other band Inner City Outlet is gonna play the main stage at House of Blues before the Superdiamond concert September 8th. Superdiamond is a great Neil Diamond tribute band that plays all over the world. Hope to see you there!!

Steph and I are gonna celebrate 2 months of marriage on July 20th. I realize this isn't the biggest acheivement, but she continues to amaze me every day

Spent 2 weeks setting up a pool at my mom's house. It's one of those Wal-Mart pools you get for a few hundred bucks where you unroll and fill. Lots of smiling people on the package. IT IS DAMN DIFFICULT!! You gotta level the ground, buy sand, get fancy leveling equipment...I suggest going to Geauga Lake instead. My mom is worth it, though. Now, if I can just get her in the thing :)

Going up to Geneva on the Lake this weekend to attend some wine tastings. We love hanging out at Ferrante and St. Joseph's in the summer. Great local wineries and St Jospeh's Pinot is to die for. Find a good friend, hop in the car, and head out to this wonderful part of Ohio and just talk. It is time well spent

Here are a few pictures from my wedding. I got married May 20th, at the Mon Ami Winery on Catawba. It rained for 12 days straight before if you remember, and that day was the first day any of us saw sun. The day was incredible, Steph took my breath away, and all is well with the world. Enjoy

This was on the big island too. It is a very small winery that makes wine out of guava fruit. Nice and sweet, a great, light after dinner wine. We bought 3 bottles of it!!

A visit to the Mauna Loa macadamia nut factory in Hilo. They have over 250,000 macadamia nut trees, yet their nuts are still so expensive. Macadamia nuts are low in cholesterol and have 3 times as much good fat as olive oil. Yeah, I read that :)

Here is a black sand beach in Maui. It is actual sand that was formed from lava millions of years ago. It doesn't get your feet any dirtier than normal sand. I though it would turn them black or something. This beach had a lot of caves you could walk through. It also had jellyfish in the water so they suggest you be careful

A few friends we met on our cruise. We both think the dude looks like Dave Matthews, he didn't seem high though

Hello!

So..Steph and I had the priviledge to go to Hawaii on a 12 day cruise. We took Norwegian's The Pride of Hawaii. It was the 1st sailing of the ship ever. We were the first group of passengers. I figured since it was a new beginning for Steph and I, it seemed fitting. Everything was perfect. The food was outstanding, and so was our bar bill, but that's another thing :) Hawaii is very beautiful. It's incredibly scenic, and you want to take pictures of everything. I've never seen beauty like that before. Here are a few pictures

these were taken in Kauai, the first island we went to. It is a tropical plantation where they have lots of weddings

Here is Polihale beach. It is the most beautiful beach I've ever seen.

We went to the big island of Hawaii and drove down this street that suddenly ended. There was a Volcano that wiped out the road in 1997. You could still see the street signs rise out of the lava. We pulled our car over and walked on it. It is ropey-looking and eerie. Hawaiian legend says you can't take any lava out of Hawaii, it is bad luck. We just snapped pictures instead. This scene here could be seen for miles in every direction including all down the mountain of Mt. Kiluea

I'm Back!!

I'm officially back from getting married to Stephanie and from our honeymoon in Hawaii. It was the most incredible experience of my life, both the wedding and the honeymoon. I will post some pics as soon as I get them back. In the meantime, I hope you all are well. It's great to be back at work and back to reality again. So, Allan and Rebecca did a topic this morning about what it takes to make a happy marriage. We all know that communication is key and so is honesty and trust. Here is a great e-mail I received contaning great marriage advice. Thanks Melissa

Here are all the things my late parents did right...and they were married 56 years,
until my Mom passed away in 2002:

1) Do fun activities together....and with other couples. A simple movie and dinner can be
an outstanding way to connect. Having other couple friends makes the relationship
even stronger. My parents always went to dinner on the weekends with friends/other couples and enjoyed that aspect of their lives....both of them were very happy staying connected
to friends and staying busy with them.

2) Always keep your sense of humor...find the most eccentric things the other person does and learn to have fun with it. Tease one another. Enjoy the comedy of your shortcomings. Learn to laugh at yourself. And also, don't let the oddities of another get you down. Instead, laugh about it. Comedy is often the best medicine.

3) Allow the other person their own space........to do whatever they do. Don't try to stop
activities that make that person who they are. It will only backfire. My mom loved to sew,
my Dad loved to be active in politics...these things made them who they were. Both of them loved to do what they did. Neither one tried to stop the other.

4) Always buy gifts on important holidays. Take time to go out and shop and do something special. No matter what anyone says, this act of kindness will always promote goodness.
Some say gifts don't matter, but they do on special days like Birthdays and Christmas. It does not have to be expensive. But the thought and the activity of going out to find something special for your partner is very important.

5) Never stay mad for long. Have your say...and then if necessary, agree to disagree and let this be gone. Let things blow over....given time, they always will.

6) Take vacations together. Not always possible, but where you can, do. Memories are priceless.....nothing can compare.

7) Hold to the highest ethical standards..........trust is key. There was never any question with either one of my parents....they were completely and utterly committed. Honesty,
integrity and dedication are the things that hold you up when the rest of the world falls
apart.

Hello!

So, this is the night i'm sitting at home alone to write my vows. I'm getting married in 4 days and tonight I write down everything I feel. Wow! No pressure there ;) It is not hard for me to express my thoughts, but I want to make sure that I don't sound like every other guy who professes his love towards someone. Yes, you are best friends. Yes, you are soulmates. It is all over-used and I feel that the uniqueness of the relationship should reflect in the uniqueness of the vows. Just my thoughts!! So, I am going through old pictures and listening to the love channel on satellite. Chicago is playing..How nice. I am now in a good state of mind and I'm gonna go write now. Jeez, and I'm gonna write a parody bit about Richard Hatch going to prison right afterwards. If the bit is mushy tomorrow, you'll know why. I'll make sure to publish what I come up with when I get back from the honeymoon. Wish me luck, and thanks for taking the time to read my thoughts

Hawaiian honeymoon!!

Hey all,

So, my marriage to Stephanie is happening in 10 days from today. I'm pretty pumped. No nerves, just pumped. There is so much planning involved, so many little things to take care of. We're getting ready to meet with the napkin guy tonight. Who meets with the napkin guy? They are napkins. I'm sure no one really cares about them. They do have our names on them though. 2 days after the wedding, we are going on a Hawaiian cruise. Lots of saving has been going on to make it happen. The actual cruise is almost do-able, but then you need to fly there and then probably do stuff in port. Our last cruise I filled up shampoo bottles with liquor and wine so that I could save money. I had about 8 shampoo bottles in my luggage, which is weird because I don't have much hair. I forgot to rinse them well enough and the wine tasted like a fine merlot and pert. Hi everyone. So, I had a fun weekend. Friday, we found a new place for wine tastings. Royal Park Fine Wine. It's at the corner of Drake and Pearl in Strongsville. Every friday night, 5 bucks, tons of appetizers and nice pours. I highly recommend them. Saturday night, I spent some time with my mom and we watched a movie together. Mother's Day should not be your excuse to visit someone you love. Any one can do that. Always take time to show people you love them. I know I appreciated the visit, and I know she did too. Yesterday, it was off for mexican food at El Rodeo. They literally have the best salsa in the state. Stephanie and I got some last minute things ironed out for the wedding. Animal Jam

So..I know there's a lot of places to donate your hard-earned money, but I wanted to tell you about an event I'm doing. It's Called Animal Jam and it's happening May 12th (Friday) at the Velvet Dog in the warehouse district. 10 bucks to get in and there will be a ton of bands playing, as well as free food and special drink prices. There's also gonna be free door prizes. All the money goes to the Brooklyn Animal Shelter, not quite as big as the APL, but they are in desperate need of our help. I'll be hosting out there from 730-1am. Come and hang out. Tickets are available at the door, I hope to see you there

Weekend in the garden

Wow, back to work already. How nice to have a weekend where there's no rain and you can actually get yardwork done. That's exactly what I did. All day Saturday it was off to Home Depot to buy flowers and bushes. Everyone says that you shouldn't keep up with the Jones', but if you have that one house that doesn't cut their lawn and the only landscaping you have is a garden gnome your grandma gave you 20 years ago, you will be the talk of the street in a bad way. If you're like me, you get really confused with what to do in your garden as soon as you walk in to the store. So many flowers and things. Anyways, if you're looking for a good deal on mulch, Marcs has the black hardwood mulch for 1.99 a bag. A good price considering most places want over 3 bucks. Any suggestions for some good flowers that don't require any work? E-mail me at ganderson@q104.com. Also, I'm getting some trees cut down and the guy is quite a steal. He also has a stump grinder. So those of you that know me, know I love wine. I love the taste, the conversations that come about , the intrigue, the wine tastings themselves. I am pretty obsessive, but in a good way. I love learning about wines, how the grapes grow, how 2 bottles from the same vineyard can taste completely differen't. Whenever I come across an article that extoles the virtues of wine, I will share it with you. Here's yet anotyher example of why it's healthy to drink wine

REASON TO RAISE A GLASS: RED WINE MAY SLOW SIGNS OF AGING
Go ahead and have that glass of red wine with dinner -- not only will it go great with your steak -- it may help you live longer and slow the signs of aging.
That's the latest from scientists at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, Italy, who have found that red wine can actually delay the onset of aging -- thanks to an ingredient called resveratrol. Well, it works that way in fish, anyway -- and the scientists believe the findings could apply to humans as well.
The scientific mumbo-jumbo: Resveratrol is an organic compound found in grapes and particularly enriched in red wines like pinot noir. It is part of a group of antioxidant compounds known as polyphenols. In previous studies, resveratrol has been found to help prevent inflammation and cancer.
The study: The Italian researchers added resveratrol to the daily diet of a breed of fish that typically lives about nine weeks in captivity. The result? It not only significantly prolonged their lifespan, but it also delayed the onset of age-related problems, like memory loss and diminished muscular performance.

So..This is my first post. I just wanted to say hello to everyone and thank you all for visiting. I will hopefully make this fun and post a lot fo cool things going on in my life. I'm getting married on May 20th up near Put-In-Bay at a cool winery. Things are pretty hectic right now. We finally got the menus in order and I'm measured for a tux so we're just about there, right? Steph has gone into wedding mode and between that and her job, she's really busy but we always make time for one another at the end of the day. Always the most important thing, you know. Here's a picture of us..
