Winter and wine

Hello,

So, those of you that know me, know I love wine. What happens when you combine the liquid gold in a glass with the spirit of the season? You get mulled wine!! Here is one of my favorite recipes. Mulled wine is warming a fruity or spicy wine with mulling spices (allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg, etc) To give it a hot apple cider like taste. Try this recipe and tell me how you like it, it is simply fantastic

1 bottle Baco Noir wine (you can substitute any fruit-forward wine)

1/2 cup port (to give it consistency and depth..and alcohol!!)

1/2 cup orange vodka. (for a fruity zip and finish)

1 cup sugar

1/4 tspn ground cloves

1 tspn nutmeg

pinch of allspice

1/2 tspn vanilla

2 cinnamon sticks

Warm the wine in a saucepan on the stove, taking care not to boil. Add spices and stir gently..Serve warm with a cinnamon stick

It's very easy..You probably have everything in the house already. Now go and impress your family at Christmas

Have a beautiful day!!

Glenn

Sounds good Glenn. For those folks in the border states I'd like to recommend our Baco Noir from Henry of Pelham Family Estate Winery in Niagara.

But i have another 2 holiday drinks that we serve at home:

The Stir Lounge in NYC makes a drink called a Frostbite: 1 oz Henry of Pelham Riesling Icewine, 2 oz Grey Goose Vodka (i sub in Iceberg Vodka from Newfoundland which is made from melted icebergs -- really!) and garnish with a frozen grape. ideally you wet the grape, roll it in sugar and a bit of starch then skwere and freeze it. Looks Great.

There's also a Kir Catharine (like a Kir Royale): 3 oz Cuvee Catharine Sparkling Brut, 1 oz Henry of Pelham Cabernet Franc Icewine poured over a spoon to layer.

Happy holidays!
